Description
This beautiful landscape photograph captures the view from The Tump in Crickhowell Recreation Ground, overlooking the historic site of Crickhowell Castle and the surrounding countryside of the Usk Valley in Powys, Wales.
The Tump is a prominent grassy mound within the recreation ground and marks the original motte of Crickhowell Castle, a Norman fortress built during the late 11th or early 12th century. Although little of the original castle structure remains today, the site remains deeply connected to the town’s medieval origins and historical significance.
From this elevated viewpoint, the photograph reveals the peaceful charm of Crickhowell, with its church spire rising above the rooftops and the rolling hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog) forming a stunning natural backdrop.
